A Great Start!

Dear 2B

I am very pleased to see that most of you have set up your blog successfully and some of you tech-savvies even toggled with HTML to create very dazzling interfaces. Furthermore, the majority of you have blogged your first post, titled First Week at School, which was a 'trial assignment' given to you last Friday. Good job! Those who have not done so, do give yourself a push and start blogging, will you?

May I reiterate that the EL Dept's intention for this blog assignment is to bring the FUN back into writing! Instead of submitting an essay via the traditional pen and paper mode to your EL teacher, you are now publishing your writing online for a REAL audience who are interested in reading about your opinions, thoughts and feelings. Blogging allows you to interact with your peers and teachers effortlessly, and all the potential feedback and constructive criticisms made by your readers can help you improve your writing skills greatly.

I would like to encourage you to visit your friends' blogs and leave comments on their posts. Perhaps you might agree/disagree with some of their opinions? Or maybe you would like to elaborate on their thoughts regarding an issue? Speak up! :)

Next, a gentle reminder. The main objective of this blog assignment is to produce QUALITY WRITING. Please write in 'internationally acceptable English' and take the effort to check for grammar errors before publishing your post. As you are writing for a learned audience, surely you would want to leave good impressions and not appear goofy, right?

Alright, will update you guys once the assignment details are finalised, most probably by end of next week. Meanwhile, keep the conversations well-lubricated!

Cheers,
MRT (Yes, I am aware of this acronym/nickname you all have given me.)
